Every app we build is a new beginning.

8th Level Development is an independent software studio in Louisiana. We design and build our own apps — and help clients bring theirs to life, one level at a time.

The Studio

Why the 8?

The number 8 stands for new beginnings — and that's exactly what good software should feel like. A fresh start, built carefully, level by level.

Look at the mark and you'll see it: the 8 is built as a staircase. That's how we work. No leaps, no shortcuts — solid steps, each one earning the next, until an idea is standing at the top as a finished product.

We're a small, independent studio based in Louisiana, building focused apps that solve one problem well. Our first is Storklog, a baby tracker made by a parent, for parents. More are climbing behind it.

  • 1 Independent and Louisiana-owned — you talk to the person building your app.
  • 2 We ship our own products first, so our advice comes from experience, not theory.
  • 3 Honest pricing and plain language. No agency runaround.

Meet the Owner

Hi, I'm Steven.

I'm a nationally registered paramedic of 12 years who started building apps and never stopped learning. 8th Level Development is my studio — I built Storklog, a baby tracker made by somebody who knows what 3 a.m. with a newborn actually feels like. No agency, no sales team. You talk to the person building your app.

At home, my wife and I have two kids with a third on the way — so the late-night feeds and diaper math in Storklog aren't research. That's just my life right now. Twelve years of showing up for families on their hardest days taught me how much the small things matter, and it's the same care I bring to every screen I ship.

What We Do

Two ways to climb with us

We build our own apps, and we build apps for people with an idea and no idea where to start. Either way, the process is the same: honest steps, climbed in order.

Track One

Our own apps

Products we dream up, build, and stand behind ourselves — starting with Storklog. Small, focused tools that do one job beautifully.

  • Storklog — baby tracking for iPhone
  • More titles in development under the 8th Level name
  • One-time pricing, no subscription traps
Track Two

Apps for clients

Got an app idea for your business or your community? We take it from a conversation to the App Store — and you own the result.

  • iPhone app design & development
  • From first sketch to App Store launch
  • Straightforward quotes, Louisiana handshake included

How a project climbs

Four levels, in order. You'll always know which step we're on — and what the next one costs.

01

Talk it through

We hear the idea, ask the hard questions early, and tell you honestly if it holds up.

02

Sketch the climb

Screens, scope, and a fixed quote. You see the whole staircase before we take a step.

03

Build level by level

Working versions in your hands as we go — no big reveal, no surprises at the end.

04

Launch & beyond

App Store submission, release, and a studio that answers its email after launch day.

Contact

Let's talk about your next level.

An app idea, a question about Storklog, or just want to say hello — our inbox is open. You'll hear back from the person who'd actually build it.
